We survived

our first week at home alone. Well, not totally alone. Josh was home after work. But the little boys and I made it just fine during our first week without any daytime help. Of course it helped hugely that some sweet friends stopped by to visit (and bring yummy food - thank you!).
Miles is starting to notice his little brother a little more. He has become quite good at giving Josh and I the stink eye when we are holding John, but if John is not in our arms, Miles is becoming quite interested. He even tried to give him his pacifier yesterday when John was in the swing hollering. He kept looking at us like "please, make this kid stop crying!" He's been really good about sticking around and not trying to break out of the downstairs to go to the basement (his favorite place in the house). He loves bringing us his books and sitting next to us for stories.

Offering some gum. Hmmm.

John is such a sweet baby. He's starting to wake up more during the day and sleep more at night. Amazingly I'm not too tired yet. He's getting up (dare I put this in print) usually just once a night to eat. Let's hope this continues. He went back to the doctor early last week for a weight check and had gained a little weight back (he lost almost a whole pound before we left the hospital). Josh's parents saw him today for the first time in a couple of weeks and thought he looked bigger. Let's hope so!

John had his first real in-the-water bath this week. While he certainly didn't love it, he didn't scream too loudly and calmed down pretty quickly after.

And to end the post, a couple pictures of Miles and his new best buddy, Elmo. Since Archie is staying with my parents for a few weeks, Miles loves the company of Elmo.

Go Colts!

Yay! The Colts are going to the Super Bowl again! Josh was thrilled to be able to watch the game with his brother Luke and bro-in-law Kurt. I was so glad to hang out with my sister over the weekend (and Kurt, too). Here is our first attempt at a family photo. (Miles had a bad cold starting the day we came home from the hospital so this was the first that the two boys were allowed to be so close to one another. Kind of stunk that that Miles could really just check John out from afar).

Thought this was kind of funny. Miles looks like he's in pain!

Sweet Baby Boy

John at one week.

Welcome, John Romig Habegger!

John Romig (my grandmother's maiden name) arrived on Tuesday morning making us a family of four! We came home from the hospital today and are so happy to all be together at home. Miles couldn't come to the hospital to visit because of restrictions on kids due to the flu viruses, which was so difficult for all of us. He has had wonderful companionship while I/we were away, but he's had a few meltdowns during the week where he's cried for me. (While it breaks my heart, it's nice to know he misses me). I went with Josh to pick him up from his school today and the smile he gave me when he saw me was priceless. Made me cry!

John is just as sweet as can be. He's sleeping a lot right now, and we haven't had much of a chance to see his pretty eyes open, but he's just a delight. And the meeting of the two brothers went really well. Miles was curious but still happy and smiling. We'll see how this evening goes.

I'm feeling much better after this baby than I did after Miles. So far the recovery has been a lot easier. We'll see how long this 6 weeks of no lifting Miles thing lasts, though.

For now, a few pictures of our newest little boy:

Snow Day

We had our first real snow of the season yesterday, and despite the frigid temps, we couldn't resist going out for a (few) minutes to play. Afterward, we came in and warmed up with Miles' first mug of hot chocolate (in his very own special mug). Um, let's just say the kid has his momma's sweet tooth. He couldn't get enough!

Happy Birthday!

A big Happy Birthday to my momma today! You are so wonderful, and we wish we could celebrate with you. Hope you had a great time at the (probably frozen) lake. We love you!

And also today, Happy 1st Birthday to our sweet niece, Addie.
