Christmas Week

It's hard to believe that another Christmas has come and so quickly passed. The last week has just flown by. It was a really special Christmas filled with lots of family, fellowship, and wonderful food. Hard to believe that 2010 is almost here (along with baby #2!).

We started our Christmas week with a trip to the zoo's Festival of Lights (or whatever Indy calls it). It was a nice night with the highlight being, as usual, a trip in to see the penguins.

Sunday we traveled to Berne to celebrate with the Habeggers and had a great time with the whole family.

We stayed home this Christmas since I'm not leaving town anymore and had lots of family coming to us (we missed you so much, though, Lu and Kurt!). Josh's parents and brother spent Christmas Eve with us, so we all woke up and had a nice breakfast. Miles opened gifts in stages so as to not be too overwhelmed. First the stocking.

Then the train table (Josh made this - nice job, huh?).

Later we got dressed (it's nice staying in your pj's until noon!) and opened more goodies. Miles loves his new roadster trike.

My parents arrived mid-afternoon and while Miles napped and we visited, Josh worked so hard in the kitchen, making the most AMAZING dish of duck, risotto, and vegetable mash. SO GOOD!

Just a cute picture of my dad and Miles sharing breakfast.

Choo Choo

We made our last trip to Ft. T for awhile yesterday. While there we took part in a traditional Cincinnati display over at the Duke Energy building. They have a really amazing holiday train display, part of which has been around for 63 years. I think he'll enjoy it even more in a couple of years, but Miles really seemed to get a kick out of all of the trains (and all the other kiddos and free cookies). I know I really enjoyed seeing it (and hanging out with my dad). After the trains, we headed over to my dad's store and then met my mom for lunch. Quite a nice little trip!

Children's Museum and Weekend Recap

It really hit me recently that my days of just hanging out with only Miles during the day are numbered. There will be three of us here really soon. So, with that in mind (and in my effort to get out of the house on a blustery cold winter day and avoid the Christmas break crowds), Miles and I hit the Children's Museum on Thursday. As I'd hoped, the crowds weren't too bad, and Miles really enjoyed his usual favorites. We missed their winter exhibit, though. I didn't see it until we were on our way out. Plus, (TMI?) I wasn't sure if Miles had wet through his diaper or had a little too much fun at the water table (it proved to be the latter) and didn't want to risk a wet spot on Santa's lap.

FASCINATION with the dinosaurs, both small...

and large.

The favorite attraction (always requiring a change of clothes).

Our weekend was great as Lucie and Kurt came up from Nashville on Friday to celebrate the holidays with us. We won't see them on Christmas (a sad first and hopefully last), so we celebrated early on Friday after getting out with them for a little while for dinner.

Let's open presents!

Then on Saturday, we celebrated the holidays with family and some great friends.

Wow, cheese!

Oh, Christmas Tree

We finally finished our Christmas decorating yesterday by putting up the tree. Miles was a huge help. He enjoyed playing with the tissue paper more than anything. So far he's not that interested in playing with it. I can't say the same about Archie...

Helping to unwrap ornaments.

My attempt at him in front of the finished product.
