Touch-A-Truck

Today we met with our friends, Deanna, Connor, Sue, and Carter and headed over to the "Touch-A-Truck" event going on over at the Carmel stadium. I really thought Miles would love to see all of his favorite trucks in one place as he is fascinated by all big vehicles. Not so much. He was okay until the horns and sirens started blaring. Then he was done - too scared to enjoy the rest of the trucks. And there was quite a variety: firetrucks, school bus, police car, golf cart, garbage truck, U-haul, etc. After we headed out for a yummy lunch at Patachou.

Checking out the police cruiser. Pre-meltdown.

The best I could get of three little guys on the move.

Doing okay. This one had a big ladder.

All over.

Miles and his cousins, Kylee and Brady, had a blast together in Berne this weekend. Miles experienced his first "Swiss Days" festival, saw Aunty Lu and Uncle Kurt (briefly), made a mad run for the pond repeatedly, and ate lots of berries and homemade ice cream. I think he's about to turn into a berry!

Here are the kids on the hammock swinging, one of Miles' most favorite things to do.

Going Green

In my efforts to be more environmentally conscious, I picked up a (new?) product that I found at Babies R Us last night. G Diapers, a cross between a disposable and a cloth diaper. So far, I'm thinking they are pretty cool. Miles doesn't seem to mind. And he looks hilarious in them. I got a good laugh watching him strut his stuff this morning.

Miles would like to say...

Falling...

Such a little boy. Miles had a rough week, and it seriously shows on his face. He started out with a right of passage injury - the classic chin bust on the side of the pool. Fortunately no stitches, but he and his daddy can commiserate over the experience later on. Then he fell (or dove) down the steps on Tuesday with just a scratch on his nose. A slip on our bed while trying to climb on gave him a busted lip, and an attempt at running to his girlfriend, Ruby's today re-scratched the nose. There are also assorted bruises on the forehead. Josh says it is just a sign of what's to come with a wild little boy.

A few pictures from the week.

Nashville and 4th of July

Despite Miles having had a bad day Thursday, he was thrilled to arrive at Aunty Lu and Uncle Kurt's house. He and the dog were perfect on the drive down and back, and we all had a great time over the weekend visiting with L & K (and miss Lola). Archie is another dog completely when he's with other dogs (a nice one, that is. And no, we will NOT be getting him a playmate). And Miles can't get enough of Lola.
We spent a good bit of the 4th in the car headed home. The weather was terrible so our evening plans were changed a bit. We still headed to Highland for dinner but headed toward home to spend some time with Luke & Bridget and the Fox's. Then Miles went to bed while we played with fire(works) with some neighbors. A great weekend!
On another note, a switch was flipped in Miles on Thursday evening. He is now a wild, wild little guy. He is still such a happy, funny, joyful toddler, but he is so much more WILD all of a sudden.

Just waking up

Uncle Kurt thought he was being really funny :)

Giving "noses" to Lola. Sweet girl was so nice to Miles despite really wanting to sleep.

First Day of School

Miles started his Parent's Day Out program on Thursday. Josh and I were so excited for him to go. When we picked him up, though, we learned that he hadn't had the best time. Apparently he didn't like "school" too much. He then grew even madder at us when we strapped him into his carseat for a 4.5 hour drive to Nashville!

Before, when he was happy.

Strange (but pretty) inconvenience

One of our windows popped again. Just a giant "POP." Apparently the ultra high humidity that we had the other week is to blame. At least it makes for a pretty view.
