First and Last

John just had his first taste of rice cereal and did pretty well.

Today is Miles' last day of PDO for the year.

Oh, and Archie's FIRST swim over the past weekend was also his LAST since he developed a rash and a hotspot (what the heck is that?) on his oh-so-sensitive-skin resulting in a costly vet bill.

No words to describe this...

Pollywogs and a Country Dog

We spent a very relaxing and fun weekend with Josh's parents. Miles had so much fun running around and getting dirty. He and his grandpa caught polliwogs (that are hopefully still alive in our pond now) and had a great time catching and touching them again and again and again.

We discovered that Archie is actually a water dog. He would probably be so much happier if he could run free with his new BFF Willow and swim for dummies all day long. He was a dog obsessed when it came to swimming out and retrieving the dummy from the middle of their wetland. Aren't bulldogs supposed to sink?
(You have to really look for Arch's eyes and nose in the water. He wasn't quite as quick as his lab cousin. Kind of looks like a hippo, I think).

Miles also enjoyed feeding grandma's fish in the koi pond.

Finally, we concluded the weekend up on the playset where we spend many evenings. John took his first ride in the swing. He didn't cry...

At Four Months John Is

so smiley, especially when he sees his big brother. He loves to watch Miles and get kisses and noses from him.

getting interested in Archie. For some unknown reason, that dog makes both of the little boys smile. Good thing!

a talker! He loves to "talk" to us.

a great sleeper. He's the most fun at night, which stinks since he needs to go to bed, but he's so darn cute that it's hard to make him go. He sleeps about 10 hours at night and is starting to nap a little more regularly during the day.

a great eater, as proven by his weigh-in at the doctor yesterday. He weighs 14 lb 7 oz and is 26 inches which puts him in the 50% and 85% respectively. I can't believe he's almost doubled his weight and grown 6" in 4 short months! And I love those little rolls he's developing on his thighs and arms, and the little round chubby cheeks. So cute!

developing just right on track.

a happy little boy. He sure does let us know when he's hungry, but otherwise he is very content and happy.

an absolute joy to us. We love our little boys so much!

Miles also had a good 2 1/2 year appointment yesterday. He's growing well (32.2 lbs and 37 1/4" tall), and the doctor was pleased with his progress in speech. He started wearing little orthotic braces on his feet last week to help him to walk more evenly instead of on the insides of his feet. We're already noticing a huge difference in his balance and a real spring in his step. Too bad that Archie got a hold of one on Tuesday. That's right - not even a week after we picked them up and the dog put some nice bite marks in the plastic. I had them checked today, though, and there is no structural damage done. Whew!

I am so blessed and thankful to be mommy to these amazing little boys

and to have such a fabulous momma (and momma-in-law).

Today was a beautiful day that I got to spend with my favorite boys and both sets of our parents. We had a yummy brunch together, had a great visit, and spent the afternoon planting my mother's day presents outside. Wonderful!

Oh, and this little angel turned 2 1/2 today. Where has the time gone?

These 2 little boys

sure do melt this mommy's heart.

(Even when one hit the other and now he's crying).

He's ALL little boy

It still amazes me to watch the differences between little boys and little girls, even as young as Miles. While girls seem content to sit at a table and make mother's day cards for their mommies, Miles likes to throw the paper (as well as rocks and shoes). While little girls like to fill the watering can and water the fishies, Miles likes to spray the fountain spicket. While little girls like to pose for the camera, Miles likes to try to catch the fish we put into the fountain (and he actually caught - and released - two with his bare hands. Quick hands!). Obviously he had a blast yesterday playing with his adorable neighbor friends, Ruby and Georgia.

Working on catching the fish while the girls pose.

(We don't usually keep our patio furniture on the bench or have bird poo down our house. Josh worked like a dog yesterday and had cleaned the deck and caulked part of the house).

And a couple of pictures of our sweet little John who I'm SURE will never be wild or unruly. I think I said this about Miles about 2 years ago, too!
