Mother's Day

As my first Mother's Day winds down, I am so thankful for this opportunity to be Miles' mom. It has been the most amazing six months. Josh and I regularly ask each other, "did you ever think you would love Miles this much?" We never got it when people would say that you never know how much you'll love your little one until you have one, but it's so true!
It's been a really great day (despite the ick weather). We had a nice brunch at Highland and vegged out this afternoon and evening. Josh and Miles brought me some beautiful outside flowers which we had planned to plant today, but the weather didn't cooperate so that has been saved for another day. Something to look forward to this week! We also had a couple of trees taken down early this afternoon, and Miles loved watching the guys with their chainsaws and the chipper.

This reminded me of that Lily Tomlin skit where she sits in the giant rocker. He looked so little sitting in his daddy's chair.

And finally, my friend Deanna "tagged" me to reveal five random facts about myself. So here goes...

1. I love it when people ask me for gardening advice. I have no idea except what I've learned from my dad. I guess he's the reason why people think I know what I'm talking about. And I do now, kind of. But I love that I'm seen as somewhat of an expert, and I love to think back on what my dad has taught me about plants and share it with others. So keep asking (and then maybe consult a gardening book). :)

2. I'm afraid of cats. I'm not sure why, but I have this fear that they are going to attack me at all times. Like the time when our old dog Willie escaped and cornered a cat. He was a boxer and in true boxer form, he danced around this cat who was on it's back on the ground. I was afraid to reach in and grab Willie's collar. Not because I thought he'd hurt me, but because I thought the cat would leap up and land on my face. Like in cartoons... I don't know where this fear comes from, but I have it.

I'm obsessed with...
3. Lotion. I think this comes from my lifeguarding days when I had leather skin. I can't go anywhere without it.
4. Brushing my hair. This comes from when I was a kid and my parents always reminded me to brush my hair so that I didn't have that little kid stringy hair thing going on. It continued and snowballed. I cannot go anywhere without my hairbrush either. I know that these two obsessions drove my college roommates and now Josh crazy!

So now I'm tagging Julie G and Erica. Go for it guys!
