valentine's day...

As in previous years, we celebrated Valentine's Day with a little party after school on Friday. Prior to that, I was able to enjoy breakfast with my Valentines and attend Miles' school party (ADORABLE). Only a couple of pictures as there was way too much movement to capture many more. Lots of sugar + lots of children = LOTS of running around! :)

And my little Valentines. The big one wouldn't cooperate for pictures.

milestones...

We've reached a few milestones around here lately. This little lady moved into a big girl bed and a room just for her about a month ago (as opposed to the former office/guest room that was only moderately altered prior to her arrival). She's done pretty well. Only fallen out once, but she does not nap anymore and instead destroys her room. I think we need to play outside to wear her out!

She also is very well on her way to being potty trained. No diapers and pull-ups only for sleeps and when we leave the house. So, no more crib and no more diapers in this house!

Last Monday I noticed that Miles' lower tooth line looked a little janky. It took a minute for me to realize that there was a loose tooth in there. He said it had only loosened that day and by Tuesday afternoon, it was gone. Gone at school, that is. The tooth fairy still found him, and I love his new smile. Such a big boy thing, though!

And this is just because it's cute. John found Josh's high school letter jacket and proudly came downstairs to show it off.

celebrating four...

We spent part of last weekend in Berne celebrating Christmas with some of Josh's extended family. My mother-in-law picked up a cake for the birthday boy and we did a little singing and a lot of eating.

Going to bed as a three year old.
And our silly four year old. Always feeding the dog (seriously, one of his favorite things to do. I hear the garbage lid open too many times a day, and lots of mealtime food is shared with Archman. His poor waistline).

After we arrived back at home, John wanted to open gifts. His new scooter.

And his request of Red Velvet Flying Cupcake for dessert (following the requested steak for dinner). He didn't waste any time blowing out those candles.

Today we celebrated again with a little snowman party for him. He was so excited to see the balloons after school. And I made snowman food (thanks Pinterest!). The shakes were kind of scary looking. Tasted fine, though.

We finished the party with an indoor snowball fight as it was snowing outside.

At four John continues to be such a funny, spunky little guy. Actually big. He's catching up to Miles pretty quickly. He loves his brother and sister so much. Tonight we separated the boys at bedtime since they were so tired but so wild. No sooner was John tucked in our bed than he hopped out and said through tears that he wanted to sleep with Miles.
He is very independent and wants help with nothing. He loves to play basketball and is always on the lookout for race cars. Favorite movies are Despicable Me and Wreck it Ralph, favorite book is I Stink, favorite food is Some Guys pizza, and he has quite a sweet tooth.
John is incredibly thoughtful and compassionate. And he keeps us laughing all the time.

A couple of other randoms. Miles had his first basketball game last weekend. So cute.

And like mother, like daughter. It's hard to tell but L's hair was in a high pony like mine. So cute (on her)!

happy birthday!

Happy 4th Birthday to our sweet, sweet Johnny. As we went around the table saying awesomes about Johnny last night, some of the traits mentioned were loving, funny, thoughtful and kind. Perfect descriptors of our youngest boy. He is such a delight, and we are so blessed to have this little guy in our lives!

snow days...

We, like much of the Midwest, are snowed in with subzero temperatures. The boys were supposed to head back to school today but instead were able to sleep in with a snow or cold day, not sure which.
Our first snow came on Thursday. We were able to play outside during that one.

{This one is just because it's cute. It has nothing to do with snow}.

And try to take a cute pj picture for our neighbor (with gifted headbands). You can tell they were pretty chilly.

Then our big 12" snowstorm came through all day Sunday. It was still warm enough to play outside and cousins were even here to share in the fun. We've been cooped up inside since, though, and the boys just want to play in all that snow. Tomorrow?

christmas week...

We started our Christmas break with a trip downtown to meet Josh and see the lights. This was our first time doing this (really?!) and we all really enjoyed seeing downtown lit up. We finished our evening by ordering a pizza and devouring it in Josh's office overlooking the circle. Johnny followed up on a few of Josh's calls too...

We headed to Fort Thomas on Sunday to celebrate Christmas with the Rices. There was lots of yummy food and lots of silliness.

We made it back here on Christmas Eve and spent the rest of the week at home. We enjoyed Christmas dinner with both sets of parents and finished our week with the Habegger celebration at our house and then at SkyZone. Even little Lauren was able to jump (we had our own private trampoline) and had a meltdown when she had to leave!

We're looking forward to another week of break and ushering in 2014!
