Last week turned out to be quite busy and lots of fun!

My mom came up on Monday to babysit for us (date night included!) so that I could chaperone Miles' zoo field trip on Tuesday. What fun! It was so cute to watch Miles with his little friends. I hear a lot about these kiddos but there isn't much parent-in-the-classroom time, so I don't know these children. He was so excited to ride the big bus (me too. I never rode a school bus growing up) and had so much fun. My favorite part was watching him skip along holding hands with this little girl he talks so much about. And being able to share this special day with my little M.

The afternoon class had the same field trip on Wednesday so no school for Miles. I walked into the living room to see this. Melts my heart.

Then we got dressed and headed over to Luke & Bridget's for some backyard fun and a picnic.

Thursday was the last day of school.  My little M is not so little anymore!

I've been feeling crafty and made some fun goodies for the teachers. Some teacher thank you cards and a treat. The little cupcake things are supposed to be like apples.

A picnic lunch, special dinner, and a visit from Grandma and Grandpa! Perfect!

Josh took Miles to the track on Friday. He thought it was so cool. Of course he loved the cars. The noise, not so much.

I had to fit baby Lauren in here somewhere.

In preparation for the hot weekend ahead, Josh headed out Friday afternoon to pick up a little kiddie pool. In typical Josh fashion, he came home with something really big and way more fun than what I would have gotten. The kids had a blast in the pool all weekend. And the water lasted because it had a cover and filtration system. Really?! Dad is way cooler than mom. John lost his footing right away and went under. He didn't want anything to do with the pool from then on.

We got together with some friends Saturday afternoon. Miles tried to help John with his sunscreen.

And some more pool pics. Water boy and mischief maker.

Happy Summer!

Last Week {via Instagram}

Nothing overly exciting around here. Just sweet everyday moments like these...

watching for daddy to come home, playing on the swingset

the way Lauren travels, napping on the floor and under the bed

John loves to reach up to hold our hands, my favorite flowers on the counter

sweet Lauren, Johnny checking out the garden

relaxing with a cold drink on a hot day with my hubby, Miles cheering on his cousin at a baseball game

date time with my littler boy at the strawberry patch, our collection

This week promises to be a little busier. Lolly's coming today, field trip with Miles tomorrow, last day of school. I can hardly believe summer is here!

Nashville Weekend

Back from great trip to Nashville.  We've looked forward to spending the weekend with Lucie and Kurt for ages now, and we had a great time with them, as always. We had a beautiful day outside on Friday. The boys had a blast in the pool.

This is Johnny's puffed up macho face. Love it!

Uncle Kurt popped up - Surprise! Love these kind of funny photos.

We played at the nearby park for a bit on Saturday. The boys loved that. Then Lu and I disappeared for a yummy frozen cocktail at Josh's and my favorite, The Local Taco.

We had a lovely Mother's Day breakfast courtesy of Lucie and Kurt before embarking on the longest drive home EVER! 9.5 hours, to be exact. We got about an hour into Kentucky and hit parking lot kind of traffic. Given the situation, the children were amazing. There were some tears and some really wet carseats, but they were real troopers. We passed the time by taking silly pictures.

We arrived home just in time for bath and bed. Not quite the Mother's Day as planned, but at least I got to spend the day with my favorite people. These little people who I'm so fortunate to have call me mommy (and their wonderful daddy too).

Half Birthday

Today sweet Miles is 4 1/2. I took his picture yesterday - this is so him right now.
He still doesn't like to have his picture taken. The only time he'll look right at the camera is to give a really cheesy smile. Not him. So, instead I get ones with him avoiding looking at the camera. Silly boy.

He loves to dress himself. Josh or I usually pick out the school outfit since it's so early, but he likes to change or add to it later on at "rest" time. This was yesterday's collection. He loves his blue Crocs. More than the B.A. shoes (yes, that's bad a@# - he doesn't know what it means but that's Josh's name for his cool tennies).

He still loves YaYa. He is very concerned with the garage door being down. He doesn't like to rest during rest time. Oh, sweet 4 1/2 year old boy. You are so funny!

He loves to tell us stories about things that John has done. They are usually very naughty things that John has not done (nor has Miles), but he loves to tease us and get a rise. Wonder where he got that from?!

Miles still loves school and will miss seeing his school friends everyday this summer. He loves to play outside and help Josh with outdoor things. We're predicting a big helper in our veggie garden this summer!

We can't believe it's been 4 1/2 years - love you, Mise!

Seven Months Old!

Our sweet seven month old baby girl

This little cutie is so happy! She smiles all the time. Her eyes are always sparkling. Her only cries come when she's been tackled by a brother (usually the younger of the two) or is exhausted or hungry. This last month she started crying between 5 - 6 am (ugh), but we've worked through that. I think. She loves the jumperoo and her baths. She vocalizes a lot with such a sweet voice.  Her brothers make her light up. She even things Archie is awesome. She enjoys her toys and is starting to enjoy food a little more. We brought her high chair up this week and she's really liking the new view (as opposed to the bumbo with her back to her brothers). She sits well and likes games. She has the best little baby rolls and chunky thighs. Baby Lauren is such a joy!

Recently...

Josh had to do some traveling recently so Lolly came for a visit. We hit the Children's Museum and Conner Prairie (both MUCH easier with an extra set of grown-up hands). We loved spending some time with her.

Then we headed to Berne to spend some time with Grandma (Grandpa got to travel with Josh - lucky!). The boys had a blast playing with the dogs, in the corn field, swinging, hiking, just general outdoor boy things. This little boy just looks like straight mischief.

Finally we celebrated Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo with some friends. Horses, hats, and Mexican food. Awesome!
