Thanksgiving and Then & Now
Gosh, it's been awhile since I posted anything. After celebrating Miles' birthday, not much has happened outside of our ordinary weeks. We did, however, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family in Ft. T this weekend. A few pictures from the last couple of weeks.
Miles still ADORES his baths. He recently finished some "swim lessons" and continues to prove that he thinks he is half fish.

Still in the crib. We (Josh and I) aren't ready to move Miles to a big bed yet. We are too comfortable with the knowledge that he is safe in his bed (which he loves) and that he can't run around the house while we sleep.

We took all three dogs to the dog park while in Ft. T. Miles LOVED chasing them around. I think that dogs might be his favorite "toy" right now.

Mom and Dad think this the above scenario is a hoot.

During our Thanksgiving meal. We had a wonderful dinner and have so much to be thankful for. Here, Lucie shows Miles how thankful she is to have him feed her some green beans (or is that potato?).

Friday we went to the Conservatory to see their Christmas floral exhibit. As always, it was really beautiful. This was our sad attempt at family Christmas photo.

Then and Now -
My parents always took us to the Conservatory each year for our Christmas picture. Here is an oldie from about mmmm 27 years ago?

And here we are today.

While in Ft. T my dad wanted to document the growth of both a tree and me. He planted a blue spruce when we first moved into the house in 1977. At the time, the tree and I were about the same size.

Now it has gotten so big that it has started to grow into other (more attractive) trees and take over the yard. It's coming down soon (might already be down?), so here we are again. It surpassed me years ago. See, won't even fit into the whole frame!

Miles at 2
A few pictures from Miles' 2nd birthday and a little recap of what he's up to now.
We had a great group over for lunch on Sunday. The weather could not have been more perfect for November, and the kiddos could run around outside to burn off some of the sugar.
Miles and mama

He really didn't seem to like his lunch, huh?

Not so sure about everyone watching and singing to him.

Didn't like the cake either.

Lots of present opening helpers.

Little family.

Monday. New b-ball goal.

The little guy is constantly on the move. He's gotten really fast, and it's becoming increasingly harder to keep up with him.
He LOVES the dog, and Archie loves him back. Miles is constantly handing over his toys to Archie and running around with Archie's bones, ropes, etc. It makes it tough to teach the dog what not to chew on! Miles really loves any dog; his ears perk up when he hears our neighbor's horse, I mean dog, bark (it's a beautiful but huge English Mastiff). He also loves his dog cousins very much.
He lights up around other kiddos. He really looks up to his (slightly) older boy cousins, and it's so cute to see them together.
He is also really enjoying his Parent's Day Out school. I think it's largely because he can be around a bunch of other kids (and away from me for awhile!).
His vocabulary is increasing every day. While he is still shy about talking to other people, he talks up a storm to Josh and me.
He LOVES to play with blocks and balls of any kind. He also loves to "read." He goes right to his closet, picks a book, and then snuggles right into our lap to read. I love this!
He had his 2 year appointment today, and the dr. was very pleased with his progress. She thought he looked great! He weighed 30.8 lbs (80th % - the kid loves to eat!). We couldn't get an accurate read on his height as he uses the big kid scale now and didn't want to stand up there long enough. Suffice it to say that he's tall.
He is such a joy to Josh and me, and we are so blessed to have such a fun and happy little boy. We are so excited to see him as a big brother soon!

Seriously?
What kid likes edamame?

Well, evidently this one. He has gone to the pantry no less than 5 times in the last 3 days to pull out the giant Costco-sized container of dry roasted edamame, taken it to the table, and wanted to eat some. I don't know where he go the original idea from. It's not like Josh and I eat it alot. It's just okay. Anyway, glad he likes something else that's good for him!

Halloween 2009
Our Halloween week started off with a bit of a kink. Miles came down with a bug. Not "the bug", but enough of one to keep him from doing some pre-Halloween festivities with friends. He ran a temperature for about 3 days and finally shook it on Halloween. Since he was still not totally back to himself, we didn't make the rounds, but did get to visit with some family and friends. And I must say, he was the cutest little sheep around!
Friday night. Still running a fever. He doesn't look very sick, does he?

I went to an annual Halloween party with some friends while Josh stayed home with sicky. Two witches and an old lady (minus the head pieces of all of our costumes).

The little sheep with Grandma and Grandpa.

Hanging out with some neighborhood friends.

Keeping an eye on all of the nearby candy.

Family picture.

Just a couple of pictures from the weekend...
Our little "sheep" at the Highland Halloween party. He enjoyed the food and the company, but wasn't so sure about the dance party lights and really didn't like the haunted house.

Loved the leaves at the annual Werst fall party in Shelbyville. He had so much fun chasing the bigger cousins around and putting rocks and sticks inside car hubcaps. Must have made for a fun surprise when people started to drive away.
