november/december 2015...

So I'm a little behind on keeping this here bloggy updated. At my sweet dad's urging, I'm going to post a monthly roundup of some of my favorite pictures, starting with the remainder of 2015. Here goes...

We had so much fun celebrating Miles' birthday. He wanted to bowl again this year, so we  did that along with some gross jelly beanboozling and a sleepover.

We've played plenty of Xbox on cold evenings after dinner. I love how this game takes pictures of them in action.

Next up was Josh's big 4-0. The kids worked really hard on crowns for him and couldn't wait to celebrate. They did a pretty job of keeping a few surprises, too.

After all of the birthdays, we were into full Christmas mode. As our usual, we made our gingerbread houses and took lots of drives to look for blow-ups (and pretty lights). Lauren had her Christmas program at school that she practiced extensively for at home. She sang her little heart out up there on stage.
This year the grandmas and I took Lauren to see the Nutcracker. She really liked the first half but couldn't quite get why it stopped in the middle and then we had to go back. We had to take a little dancing break outside before we could go back in. I also was asked to go on John's field trip to Conner Prairie. Definitely a highlight of the season. It was so much fun to see him with his little friends. Plus, he really liked having me there.
Then it was Christmas. We had a beautiful holiday and such a fun break with everyone home. There's a picture down there of our pretty lanterns going off on Christmas Eve. They were so pretty, until one came down where it wasn't supposed to. There was some excitement but fortunately no harm.
John lost his first tooth, Miles lost two more (including one on Christmas Eve!) and we finished out the year with way too much confetti and lots of laughing.

eight years old...

The happiest of birthdays to our sweet Miles. The boy with such a happy and kind spirit, who loves his brother and sister to pieces, showers all kinds of affection on our animals, and who could spend all day every day exploring in our woods or playing with his friends across the street. Eight years old!

fall break...

We spent a good part of Fall Break in Berne playing with cousins, taking Ranger rides, and making chili over the fire. This fall could not be more perfect weather-wise so after we got back, we took advantage of the sunshine and warmer temps and picnicked and played outside at one of our favorite parks.

{Over fall break we made a stop at Petsmart to see the kitties and found a real cat named Johnny for our own JohnnyCat}

brown county...

We met my family in Brown County the weekend after Lauren's birthday and continued celebrating her and the end of Kurt's master's program while there. It was so nice to all be together and our weather could not have been better for hiking, sitting outside, and campfires.

{John has taken a real interest in photography. His perspectives are always very interesting. :)

celebrating lauren's fourth...

The celebrating of Lauren's fourth birthday started on a Sunday and continued through Friday. Nearly a week, just as a birthday celebration should be.

The main thing that she wanted was a Rapunzel cake. We had the Habeggers over Sunday night for family dinner night and celebrated with her special cake then (and homemade ice cream and spaghetti and meatballs, her favorite). Aunt Joanna also had a birthday so the two girls celebrated together.

On her actual birthday, the boys surprised her with a bunch of balloons. Balloons in her room, balloons from the light fixture, balloons everywhere. In fact, I'm still finding them shriveled up in strange places. After school we went to the cutest little bakery in Broad Ripple for a special treat (as if there wasn't enough sugar that week) and celebrated with the boys the rest of the day. A very sweet day for our little Sweets.

four...

F.O.U.R.

Our littlest is four today. I cannot imagine how that is possible already. Lauren is spunky, funny, silly and sweet (with a side of sours in there, too). The house is never quiet with Lauren around. She loves to rile up her brothers, give Arch lovies, play with her Barbies and tea set, and watch Paw Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She dislikes having her hair brushed but has quite an opinion about her wardrobe selections. The joy she brings to our family is immeasurable!  Happy Birthday, Sweets!
