end of summer...

A recap of the rest of our summer... We made sure to hit the splash park, take bike rides, play at the school playground (our favorite!), and visit Conner Prairie a few times before it was back to school. There were some water fights and hikes, too.

{Cute little legs and new school shoes}

{Our neighbors had the most beautiful HUGE sunflowers. John especially liked to walk to see them and the bees that were visiting.}

{We took another hike. Lauren picked this flower for me. She's saying, "Happy Mother's Day" to me.}

 {Johnny with his scavenger hunt collection planning his big puddle leap.}

We didn't have a chance to make a whole family trip to the fair so I braved it alone. It worked so well and we all had so much fun. We watched a horse show. Miles was enthralled.

{There was a pupped show of The Wizard of Oz going on. We sat down to watch and Lauren told me she was scared. Next thing I knew, she was up and dancing. Hmmm... Miles loved it.}

Josh and I celebrated our 15th anniversary in August. We took a wonderful trip down to the Smokey Mountains for a couple of days.

We finished our summer with a Habegger weekend trip to Michigan. It was quick but we had so much fun with everyone. John did not leave the boat the entire time we were at the lake. And Miles had a great time paddling around with his cousins.

A few random extras.  Corn teeth and a last trip to Highland with my parents. So much fun!

lauren's first day of school...

Today was sweet Lauren's first day of Parent's Day Out. I wasn't quite sure how she'd do since we spend all of our days together. Well, during her meet the teacher last week, she separated very easily and didn't want to leave. Today when I took her into John's class, she plopped herself down on his square. And when I left her happily playing in her own class, she didn't even notice. Her teacher also remarked that she could tell Lauren would be her little helper.

I took her pictures just prior to leaving. She spun around to make her "pretty dress" twirl. She then picked up a couple of sticks and announced that she was going to Fairy Bird school.

back to school...

Yesterday marked the first day back to school for Miles. He's a "grader" now (what he and his bus stop friend called the big kids last year who got to ride toward the back of the bus). We had planned to sneak into the boys' room and carry Miles downstairs to not wake John. 6:30 wakeup and both boys were up, light was on, chattering was happening. John got a big pouty mouth when I told him he could go back to sleep.
7:00 John was downstairs, dressed and carrying around his backpack. He waited with us at the bus stop and would have gotten right on had I not held his hand. Wonder if he'll be so eager next year.

 I asked John to give his brother a hug before he left. One of my favorite pics ever!

Miles had a great first day. He hopped off that bus and was smiling so big. He sure was ready for bed last night, though.

John's first day of preschool was today. He was very excited, and I'm hoping that he is having a great day.
