Three Weeks Old

A few pictures of Lauren taken yesterday at exactly three weeks.

Sweet girl is still a great eater and sleeper. She is awake more and more each day and really likes to look around, probably wondering who the heck these loud boys are.

Well, we've survived our first week at home since Josh went back to work. The boys are on Fall Break and it's been cold and rainy outside so we've been cooped up inside. I was a little fearful that the boys would be antsy but they've been wonderful. They are playing so well together (they are so each other's best bud). And Lauren has been a dream. She is still eating and sleeping well. And she's starting to be a little more alert.

I haven't taken many pictures this week. But here are a few. Lauren is changing so much each day. Hard to believe she is two weeks old today!

From Tuesday.

We made a fort and ate gummies and read books. The fort collapsed shortly after we climbed under so really we sat on the floor in the dark (with a flashlight) and ate gummies and read books.

From Wednesday.

Penguin boy. His face is much improved.

And from Monday. It's always hard for me to envision how babies fit in bellies!

Lucie & Kurt's Visit

Aunty Lu and Uncle Kurt came up to spend the weekend with us and what a great time we had. The boys were thrilled that they were here, and I think they were pretty smitten with their new niece. Lucie got me out of the house for a couple of hours, Lu and Kurt made us an awesome dinner, Lauren received her first real bath, and at the end of the weekend Archie went home with them. Ah, perfect. Just kidding about the last part, although it is very helpful that they are taking such good care of Arch for the next few weeks.

This is how John stands and walks all the time now. He looks like a little penguin.

First Week

We had a wonderful first week. Josh was home all week, the boys were absolutely terrific (it helped that their daddy was around to play lots of basketball and take them on wagon walks), and Lauren was an angel. She is eating well and sleeping a lot! She is up one-two times a night, which I can handle. And we had lots of fun (and help) this weekend with Lucie and Kurt in town visiting. I forget how tiny and curly babies are at this age. Love it!

We checked in early Friday morning, and Lauren arrived at 8:34am. Shortly after Lauren was born we received word that John was having a severe allergic reaction to a medication he had started (see above for a picture of a much improved Johnny Redbeard). So, no seeing my little boy at the hospital. Josh brought Miles over Friday afternoon and after some initial uncertainty, he warmed up pretty quickly to his new baby sister. And since settling in at home on Monday, both boys have really expressed a lot of curiosity and love for Lauren. It's so sweet to watch them watch her and have Miles talk about baby Lauren (it's always baby Lauren).

We were a little surprised (although completely thrilled) to hear the words "It's a Girl," so it took us a couple of days to adjust our he/she, him/her pronouns. She is the absolute perfect addition to our family, and we couldn't be happier!
