Last Water Hurrah?

We had a beautiful and warm (rare around here, huh?!) day yesterday and spent it in and around the water all day. First we met some friends at the water park where the kids played in the splash area for awhile (below pictures). Then Miles and I went to the pool for maybe our last day of the season. We had such fun. He has really developed so much more confidence in the water as the summer has gone on. He has always loved the pool but felt a lot more comfortable when holding on to Josh or me (or the wall). Now he's "swimming" all over the place. It was really exciting to watch him realize that he can do it!

Our Anniversary and Miles' 1st SICKness

It was 10 years ago yesterday that I married my very best friend and quite a wonderful guy. And after 10 years, he's still a pretty great catch! While we weren't able to get away to Chicago as planned (see below), we still had a great day together. Since our plans changed last minute, Josh's brother was so kind to come up and watch little guy while we had a delicious dinner at Peterson's. Mmmmm, some Mile High German Chocolate cake is still waiting for us in the fridge.

Then

Now

The little sick boy. Miles woke up Thursday morning with a sky high temperature that kept climbing. He saw his doc who said no flu, just a nasty virus going around. His ears, chest, throat, etc. were all clear (thankfully). The fever was gone by yesterday and he's back to his old self again, but Thursday was a tough day. We've been very fortunate that aside from a cold here and there and a couple of ear infections, he's been a healthy boy so far. Seeing him so sick and uncomfortable and not being able to do a thing about it was miserable for us, too.

Zoo

Since the beautiful weekend continued, we headed to the zoo yesterday. Miles' favorite spot is usually the aquarium, but the line to get in was too long. So the favorite of the day yesterday was the pony that might "bite or kick."

Here, little pony.

Yawning, not screaming.

Pizza Cookoff

Saturday evening we hosted a pizza cookoff with two of Josh's brothers and their families. We had fun trying everyone's creations (it was a tie between Ben and Luke's entries), and the kiddos had a blast running wild.

Ava and Kylee helping with the toppings.

Pillow Fight!

U.S. Senior Open

The U.S. Senior Open was held here in Carmel last week, and Josh and I headed over to watch on Friday. It was a beautiful day (and weekend), and it was so nice to just leisurely stroll around the amazing course with my hubby. No cameras allowed, so no pics of any famous people, but here's the course layout.

Touch-A-Truck

Today we met with our friends, Deanna, Connor, Sue, and Carter and headed over to the "Touch-A-Truck" event going on over at the Carmel stadium. I really thought Miles would love to see all of his favorite trucks in one place as he is fascinated by all big vehicles. Not so much. He was okay until the horns and sirens started blaring. Then he was done - too scared to enjoy the rest of the trucks. And there was quite a variety: firetrucks, school bus, police car, golf cart, garbage truck, U-haul, etc. After we headed out for a yummy lunch at Patachou.

Checking out the police cruiser. Pre-meltdown.

The best I could get of three little guys on the move.

Doing okay. This one had a big ladder.

All over.
