Big Boy Bed

Our little boy now sleeps in a big boy bed. Sigh. After John climbed out a couple of times, we decided to convert the crib to a full size bed this past weekend. I was a little sad seeing him in his baby crib for the last time. Miles might have been a little sad, too. You see he loved climbing in "Johnny's big bed" (?) to jump around his brother.

He looks so tiny in his new big bed. He loves to point out the trucks on his sheets, though. And tear his room apart during his nap.

Weekending

You know those great relaxing weekends where you have nothing in particular to do? We had one of those this past. Josh was out of town a good bit of last week so we were all so glad to be together and not have a whole lot that had to be done.

We went to the airport Saturday morning to pick up Josh's luggage from Friday. The boys had never been; they thought it was pretty amazing. Unfortunately the planes waited until after we left to bother taking off.
We spent a lot of time outside.
This little boy is one mess. Check out his war wounds on his face.
Then Sunday Josh made ice cream (lemon, yummy, might be his best ever). Then John really looked rough.
And sweet Lauren has the sparkle back in her eyes. She had a rough week last week (and so did I. That cough is tough!). She is feeling much better and is back to being her sweet self.

Outside!

Is where we've been spending the majority of our days lately.

Sliding, swinging...

Our St. Patty's plans included lots of time outside (in Fort Thomas). A trip to the park in the morning and an afternoon shamrock scavenger hunt for the hidden pot o'gold.

Then a homemade shamrock shake. This one is healthy and yummy (the recipe is here)

We've had several picnics outside, are enjoying the blooming trees, and made our first trip of the year to feed the ducks today.

This little one hasn't had much time outside. So here she is inside.
And poor bebe has RSV. So she's not so happy right now.

I, Sarah, promise to never cut my children's hair again

I think I need to write that on a blackboard 1,000 times. Yesterday I thought I'd just take a smidge off the top of Miles' hair. It was the longest it had ever been, and I loved it. I think Josh secretly did, too. Despite never having used the clippers before, I decided to go for it. It can't be that hard, right? I made sure it was set on the longest setting and went right across the top. Um, I didn't do it correctly. I stopped and waited for Josh to come home and fix it. Whoops. And once again, I promise to never cut my children's hair again. Ever.

Five Months

Sweet Lauren, today you are five months old. I can hardly believe it. Please, time, stop moving so quickly! We all adore you, baby girl. Miles always asks where you are right after he gets up in the morning. And you love your brothers... You sleep well at night and are becoming a little more predictable during the day... You love your tongue and are very vocal... You do happy baby pose a lot now as you have found your feet... You are starting to sit pretty well (with assistance). You suck on your hands a lot; I've noticed two white dots on your lower gums but don't feel anything yet... Somebody should video tape the things I do to try to get a giggle out of you (then again, maybe not)... You love to play peekaboo and hear "The wheels on the bus"... You continue to be so happy and easy going. You really just cry when you are starving, have been beaten upon by a brother, or are trying to fall asleep for naps... It's such fun to see your little personality emerging!

Things we say over and over to a certain two year old around here:

John, please do not put daddy's contacts down the vent.
Is that cheese in the vent?
Archie would rather you pet his head (as opposed to the very uncovered other end).
Please take your sister's hand out of your mouth.
Thank you for bringing the chili powder to me.

This child is wild. So much more so than his brother at this age. He is a silly, silly little boy who makes us laugh and keeps us quite busy these days!

Before...During...After

John had a major haircut today. His first. And I agreed to it without much fuss. It had gotten pretty long. Josh even thought it looked like those cheesy child actor haircuts. And I had given him a really bad trim last week (Miles too. I cut his sideburns off. I didn't know that was a no no). So, out came the clippers. He looks pretty cute, although I always think he's a cutie.
