Celebration!

We began celebrating John's 1st birthday with a luncheon on Sunday. John loved his tacos...

and his cake. I don't know that I've ever seen a child inhale something so quickly.

He had lots of helpers opening his gifts. Miles just wanted to play with the gifts

and be surrounded by girls.

Lolly knit John this beautiful sweater coat. It has giraffe buttons. So cute!

Yesterday (the actual big day), we started off with a trip to the police station to have that new carseat installed. Thank goodness. I was so over the pumpkin seat. Now I get to see both of their sweet faces when I turn around. And John seems to like the new seat.

We asked Miles what he thought John would like for his birthday dinner. Of course he answered "pizza!". After our pizza dinner, John devoured another cupcake. I'd say he likes sweets.

And a few more of our sweet one year old.

A little bit about what John is up to these days:

• He is an amazing eater. Really. He eats everything. And with tremendous gusto. I can't narrow down a favorite food since he hasn't neglected anything on his tray yet. Maybe the cupcakes are the favorite?

• He still uses his bottle but we're about 50% transitioned to a sippy. It just depends on how desperate he is for milk since the sippy takes a little more effort.

• He sleeps like a champ at night. Naps are sometimes an issue. He has given up the morning nap (on January 1st, no less) and sleeps pretty well in the afternoon. As long as the crib aquarium has batteries, though, he's pretty content if he doesn't sleep.

• He talks up a storm. He and Miles continue to squeal back and forth at one another a lot.

• He loves his brother. So much. No one is funnier than Miles and John wants to be near him all the time. I think he'll fight his brother back, though, when he's a little bigger. While Miles adores John, there is still some jealousy and a little bullying sometimes. I think John will shove right back here soon.

• He has four teeth. Two on top and two below.

• He crawls, pulls up, cruises around everything. I'm not counting on him walking anytime soon, but I'm just fine with that.

• Loves the dog, loves books, loves to play with musical instruments and blocks. Doesn't love to be held so much anymore. He'd rather be on the floor moving himself around. Still good in the car but not such a fan of the stroller.

• At his one year appointment today he weighed 22 lbs, 8 oz (50%) and was 31.25" long (90%). Healthy growing boy!

John is such a happy, sweet, fun little toddler now. My boys are just the best!
